The results of the 2025 Community Priorities Survey are in, and they show continued satisfaction with life in Okotoks.
At the Town Council meeting on Monday (June 23), Council approved the results from the survey, which highlighted the continued community satisfaction with life in town, as well as a shared commitment to thoughtful planning for future growth.
According to the Town, this survey marks a key milestone in gathering input from residents to shape the future direction of the Town.
"Okotoks continues to thrive as a place where people feel connected, supported, and optimistic about the future," explained Okotoks Mayor, Tanya Thorn, in a media release. "This survey reinforces that our residents value the quality of life here. How they move through the community and the recreation amenities available must be key focus areas as the community grows. This feedback aligns with work currently in progress on the Transportation Master Plan and scope, scale and costs for a recreation centre expansion."
Through the survey, they found that 99 per cent of those who responded rated their quality of life in Okotoks as good, very good, or acceptable, which is above the provincial benchmark of 82 per cent.
63 per cent of the residents who responded feel they receive either good or very good value from Town programs, services, and amenities. The provincial benchmark is at 45 per cent.
Approximately 60 per cent of those who participated in the survey said they are satisfied with the quality and frequency of communications from the Town, with retired residents reporting higher satisfaction levels.
57 per cent of residents said they are likely to participate in online community engagement opportunities, whereas 32 per cent expressed interest in more in-person options, and over 50 per cent of residents said they would like to see more opportunities to share their input on Town decisions.
The survey also found that 20 per cent of respondents expressed their concerns over population growth and Town expansion.
Some key areas they took into consideration in improving the quality of life of the residents in the community include road infrastructure and recreation planning.
This survey received 1,213 responses, which is a 72.6 per cent increase from the 2022 Citizen Satisfaction Survey.
