A multi-agency traffic enforcement blitz in Estevan on June 24 resulted in dozens of charges, warnings, and vehicle seizures as police worked together to crack down on dangerous driving and improve road safety.

The coordinated effort targeted traffic offences and vehicle equipment violations to enhance road safety.

During the operation, officers issued charges and warnings for a range of offences, including speeding, use of handheld devices while driving, failure to obey traffic signals, and seatbelt violations. Two criminal charges were laid for obstruction and driving while prohibited. Officers also conducted 39 mandatory alcohol screening tests, resulting in one roadside suspension, and three roadside drug tests, all of which passed.

Vehicle inspections led to 16 tickets and 97 warnings, while commercial vehicle checks resulted in five vehicles being taken out of service. Three vehicles were seized during the enforcement.

The STEP program is an annual initiative aimed at reducing injuries and fatalities on Saskatchewan roads through increased enforcement and public awareness.
