Estevan police have charged a 22-year-old man following an investigation into a stolen truck reported in the early morning hours of June 24.
Dusty Bonnor has been charged with theft of a motor vehicle, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, break and enter, and failing to comply with conditions of a probation order. He was remanded into custody and was scheduled to appear in Carlyle Provincial Court on June 25 to speak to the charges.
In a separate incident, a 38-year-old woman from Fleming, Sask. was charged during a traffic stop in the west-central area of Estevan. She will appear in Estevan Provincial Court at a later date.
Officers responded to several other calls during the same timeframe, including two incidents at St. Joseph’s Hospital where police assisted EMS and staff in dealing with an unruly patient.
In another call, police responded to a report of someone attempting to enter a residence in the south end of Estevan. The intruder turned out to be a large dog trying to get inside a trailer. Although officers were able to identify the owner, they were unable to make contact. The animal was taken to the Estevan Humane Society for its safety and may be picked up by the owner at their convenience.
Police were also called shortly after midnight to a report of a missing child. A seven-year-old girl had been reported missing from her bedroom but was found safe in the garage of the home before officers arrived. Police attended and spoke with the family, with no further action required.
Finally, a wellness check was conducted on a 39-year-old woman after family members received concerning text messages. She was located and determined to be safe.
