Day one of Frontier Days on Wednesday included a classic event.

The annual Kiddies Day Parade sauntered its way through downtown Swift Current.

The annual event is a showcase of some of the sponsors that help bring Frontier Days to life, such as the Swift Current chapter of the Shrine Club. Former president Ron Heeg says there’s always a nice crowd every year, and kids always enjoy dressing up in costume.

The City of Swift Current has been a key partner and supporter of the Ag & Ex since 2011. Many members of the Parks Play program participated in the parade, including Families in the Park Coordinator Kylie Payne.

“It’s always a great way for the kids and families to meet the (program) leaders,” she said

Other event sponsors include the Swift Current Fire Department, Pioneer Co-op, and Innovation Federal Credit Union.

Members of the Shrine Club were also on hand to serve free hot dogs and drinks at the conclusion of the parade.

The full schedule of Frontier Days events can be viewed on the Swift Current Ag & Ex website or Swift Current Online.
