The first-ever Dale Anderson Memorial Chore Team Competition has its winners.

Seven teams competed in the event, which featured a series of chore-based challenges, similar to those that would have been done on the farm years ago with a horse team.

From the mailbox to the wagon, the competitors were first judged based on the chore team event itself, then in the 'feed scurry', which places a focus on speed.

The winners are as follows.

Chore event:

  1. Chris Bertrum
  2. Greg Malinowski
  3. Glen Bishoff
  4. Greg Malinowski
  5. Tracy Bickford
  6. Kim McNutt

Feed Scurry:

  4. Tracy Bickford
  5. Kim McNutt

Before the event began, a ceremony honouring Anderson was held. Anderson's family was able to attend the event, where they were presented with a belt buckle that had originally been intended to be presented to Anderson, honouring his many years of work on heavy horsemanship events, and with the Swift Current Ag & Ex.

The belt buckle, now in possession of the Anderson family.

Jayda Watson, equine director for the Swift Current Ag & Ex, was glad they could honour him both with the ceremony and by continuing to run the event in his memory.

"The tribute today honoured the legacy he has left behind," said Watson. "Both for the chore team competition and for heavy horse shows in both Swift Current and across Saskatchewan."

Also presented with a belt buckle was fellow organizer, Everett Anderson. There is no relation between Everett and Dale.
