Swift Current residents have a chance to fill up their vehicles for a good cause on Thursday in Swift Current.
The Swift Current Fire Department will have firefighters on hand, helping pump gas and wash windshields, as they are raising money for the Saskatchewan Burn Fund.
Esso and Fas Gas stations will be accepting donations for the next month, but Thursday is the day when five cents from every litre sold will go directly to the burn fund.
Aaron Stewart, a lieutenant firefighter for the Swift Current Fire Department, will be one of the helping hands on the scene at Fas Gas during the 8 a.m. hour, as well as the final hour heading into 5 p.m.
He's hoping to see some of the classic car community pull through today to fill up their tanks.
"Hoping to see those Tail Light Tuesday boys swing by with some empty tanks," said Stewart. "I know those big blocks like to suck down the fuel."
While firefighters will be on location for the day, accepting additional donations in their donation boots on top of the five cents per litre, the event doesn't end after the sun sets. For the rest of the month, people can make donations inside the storefronts at both Esso and Fas gas locations. Those donations will be tallied up and donated to the Saskatchewan Burn Fund at the end of the month-long campaign.
"A cash donation in the boot, or just from filling up today, it all helps," said Stewart.
People are advised that boot donations will need to be cash. Non-cash donations will need to be discussed inside the store.
