Canada Day is coming up, and there will be celebrations in the Town of Okotoks.

According to the Okotoks Community Events Specialist, Connie Drake, the celebrations will be up by the Okotoks Rec Centre.

"It will be, if the weather is favourable, which it looks good, it will be on ball diamond 10 in the Wiley Athletic Park," Drake explains. "Which is the ball diamond right as you come into the parking lot."

At the event, there will be Barkside Canine Performers, face painting, stage performers, and more.

"We also have Fit Set Ninja, which is a mobile obstacle course. Think American Ninja Warrior, but for all ages and less calisthenics involved."

While the event will run from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m., there will still be activities later in the day for everyone to enjoy.

"Fireworks will be running after the Dawgs game and they will be running from the Bill Robertson Park. It'll be after the game, so we're estimating somewhere between 10:30 and 11 o'clock."

On top of that, there will be a charity barbecue happening from noon until 3 p.m., and the Town is partnering with Foothills Local Immigration Partnership, who will be bringing multicultural potluck dishes.

"That food is going to go very, very quickly. It is by donation as well," Drake says.

While they are asking for donations for their barbecue, everything else is free.

If the weather does become problematic that day, the Town will move the festivities inside, with Fit Set Ninja being set up in Piper Arena.
