The Weyburn Credit Union's annual Community Barbecue was held indoors on Thursday evening at the Weyburn Agricultural Society's Exhibition Hall, featuring food, fun, and live music from SWITCH.
Each year, the WCU's Board of Directors allocates one percent of profits to go back into the community. This year, close to $76,000 was handed out to 11 local organizations during the event. The allocations were presented by WCU's Ryan Janke and WCU Board Chair Matt Caudill, who thanked the organizing staff and volunteers who made the event possible.
Assiniboia Park Elementary School received $10,000 for new playground equipment upgrades.
Color My World Childcare received $10,000 to create a sensory room.
Little Discoveries Daycare received $5,000 to install a rubber surface on the playground equipment.
Nickle Lake Regional Park received $8,000 to create a Sports Court.
Sunrise and Legacy Daycares received $8,000 to install outdoor shade structures for both locations.
The Weyburn 4H Beef Club received $5,000 for a utility trailer.
The Weyburn Agricultural Society received $8,600 to replace displays and table units in the Exhibition Hall.
The Weyburn Canoe and Kayak Club received $5,000 for a mobile trailer unit for canoes and kayaks.
The Weyburn Curling Club received $3,650 to refurbish and replace ice scraper blades.
The Weyburn Special Care Home received $10,000 for a courtyard revitalization project.
WeyStrong received $3,000 for an IV cart for the Oncology department at the Weyburn General Hospital.
