Frontier Days. So many people get excited for it each and every year. And there are many reasons you can be excited. But for lots, it's the fair food. You can't just go anywhere and get the same lemonade, the same mini donuts, the same ANYTHING you can buy at Frontier Days.
The hard part for some, is if they are maybe following a regimen, or don't typically eat that food, or don't think they are allowed to. I was on a meal plan for 4 years. I was pretty darn strict with it too. My meal variety was minimal, and my splurges outside of what was on the plan was almost non-existent. And that included over holidays. I brought my own suppers, and skipped on the Christmas dinners served by family.
Now, some 8 years after I stopped the plan am I any better off because of it? No. If anything, I sacrificed my own happiness because I felt I needed to be SO RIGID that I didn't stray from the plan. What's fun about that? Actually, once I came off the plan, I was at the point where I just disliked all food around me. It took a while before it came full circle again.
So, this brings me to Frontier Days. I am not on a plan. I eat respectfully mind you, and don't go crazy. But, I enjoy. Because you should. The rigidity of life is hard enough. If you want a deep fried Mars bar, you should absolutely have one. You'll feel guilty for a minute, than realize all the walking you'll be doing on the fair grounds will burn off everything you just ate.
So enjoy yourself. Have a piece of pie(you should, they're REALLY good at Doc's Town). Have a piece of deep fried cheesecake. Just, enjoy. :)
