Arrest made in proactive patrol – drugs and weapons seized in Lacombe.

On June 15, at approximately 9:50 a.m., officers located a black 2017 Dodge Ram truck suspiciously parked behind a local motel.

A male occupant was found unconscious inside the vehicle and was arrested at the scene.

During the investigation and a search incidental to arrest, police located a bag containing approximately 20 grams of methamphetamine, a large hunting knife strapped to the center console, and an AR-15 replica rifle positioned next to the driver’s seat.

The replica firearm was nearly indistinguishable from a real weapon and was easily accessible to the driver.

Additional evidence consistent with drug trafficking was also seized, including digital scales, packaging materials and a ledger used to track drug transactions.

At the time of arrest, the individual was bound by multiple court-imposed conditions, including prohibitions related to weapons, drugs and alcohol.

Joseph MacInnis, 34, of Red Deer, has been charged with the following offences:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking – methamphetamine

  • Failure to comply with a probation order

  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

MacInnis’s vehicle was also seized for a 24-hour period. A 24-hour driver’s licence suspension was issued due to drug impairment.

Anyone with information about this incident, or any other criminal activity in the area, is asked to contact the Lacombe Police Service at 403-782-3279 or their local police agency.
