In the week of June 15th to 22nd, the Weyburn Police Service response to 120 calls for service. Here are some of the notable events from the week with follow up from Deputy Police Chief Shane St. John.
A total of 15 calls were made regarding mental health and wellbeing checks. Four of these incidents resulted in people being transported to the hospital for further care and assessment. Three separate incidents saw adults found to have overdosed and transported to the hospital.
Over the course of the week, WPS officers handled four different cases of public intoxication. In each matter, no one was found to take care of the intoxicated person, so they were lodged in cells overnight until sober.

On June 15th, police received a report of a domestic disturbance. On arrival, officers found a computer had been destroyed and the suspect having fled. They were later located and charged with mischief under $5000.

On June 16th, police responded to a breach of recognizance, where a man was found to be in contact with a woman he was under a no-contact order with. He was charged accordingly and release with a future court appearance.
A similar incident with more severe ramifications occurred the following day, where a man was found violating a no-contact order in violation of his probation. He was located, arrested, and charged before being released for a future court date.

That same day, WPS officers attended a local hotel after receiving a report of an assault where they located a woman with significant injuries. The adult male suspect was located nearby and resisted arrest. He was taken into custody with no injuries to the arresting officers, where he was charged with assault causing bodily harm, forcible confinement, assault by choking, two counts of assaulting a police officer, assaulting a guard, four counts of resisting arrest, uttering threats, and mischief under $5,000. He was remanded in custody and will appear for a bail hearing on Monday.

On June 21st, a Report Impaired Driving (RID) complaint was made to the WPS. Officers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop where the man driving was confirmed to be impaired by alcohol. He was arrested and charged before being released for a pending court appearance.
