While Airdrie gears up for a citywide celebration, nearby towns including Carstairs, Didsbury, and Olds are also hosting packed slates of parades, vendors, fireworks, and free food on July 1.
Here’s a full regional rundown:
CARSTAIRS
Carstairs Memorial Park will host a full Canada Day celebration from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. From 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Town of Carstairs festivities will include:
Canada Day-themed crafts, face painting, bike decorating and outdoor games
Photo booth
Hot dogs served from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m.
Bike parade starting at 1:00 p.m.
A Made for Fun Outdoor Market will run from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., showcasing local vendors.
Fireworks begin at 10:30 p.m., launched from the Carstairs Golf Course.
DIDSBURY
The Didsbury Museum (2110 – 21 Ave) and Moose Fence Park (the former high school grounds) will jointly host Canada Day at the Museum from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. on July 1.
The event, presented by Canadian Heritage, the Town of Didsbury and the Didsbury and District Historical Society, includes:
Ice cream, sauces and sprinkles, and iced tea in the Museum gardens
Family photo booth, outdoor garden train, and indoor exhibits
Tea and birthday cake served by town councillors
Vendor market and bouncey houses (Zion Church) at Moose Fence Park
Passport stations with a chance to win a gift card
“Make Your Own Souvenirs” in the schoolroom
There’s also free swimming at the Didsbury Aquatic Centre and fireworks at dusk.
OLDS
Olds will launch its Canada Day Parade at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 1, with a new extended route beginning and ending on 53rd Street. Roads along the route will be closed from 9:45 to 11:00 a.m.
Centennial Park (5037 – 53 Street) hosts daylong activities, including:
11:00 a.m. – O Canada by the Evergreen Singers
11:20 a.m., 12:20 p.m., 1:20 p.m. – Super Dogs Show
11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. – Vendor market, bouncy houses, free hot dogs and cookies, games, sparkle tattoos and more
Canada Day kickoff fireworks are set for 11:00 p.m. on Monday, June 30 at Rotary Athletic Park (3901 – 70 Ave, north of Walmart).
AIRDRIE
Canada Day in Airdrie spans multiple locations with both City and community-hosted events:
8:00 a.m. – Pancake breakfast outside City Hall, hosted by the Kin Club of Airdrie (first 1,500 guests)
10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. – Canada Day Parade through downtown (Airdrie Parades)
9:00 a.m. onward – Celebrate Canada Day Downtown with promotions, BBQs and a QR-coded interactive business map
11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. – Airdrie CultureFest at Nose Creek Regional Park, featuring multicultural food, beer gardens, performances, and activities
June 27 to July 1 – Airdrie Pro Rodeo continues at the Airdrie Rodeo Grounds
10:45 to 11:05 p.m. – Fireworks finale at Chinook Winds Regional Park
Parking for fireworks is limited to sites including Rocky View Schools, W.H. Croxford High School, and Chinook Winds Regional Park. Recommended viewing spots include Windsong School, Coopers Crossing School, Living Springs Church, and Daybreak Church.
Attendees are encouraged to walk, bike, use e-scooters or transit, and to plan ahead.
