With the sun shining and nice weather, hundreds of people celebrated Canada Day at Assiniboine Park.

The day started at 11 a.m. on Tuesday and was filled with festivities and a wide range of activities.

A special Canada Day Citizenship Ceremony was held in the morning at the outdoor Gardens at The Leaf. Local artist Kelly Bado sang "O' Canada," and Dwight MacAulay, former Chief of Protocol for Manitoba, was the presiding officiant.

Family and friends of the 30 new Canadians were present to offer their support and celebrate their momentous day.

Many family-friendly activities took place on the Lyric Field, such as bouncy castles, face painting, and other games for children.

There was also a free bachata and salsa dance session to participate in and enjoy at the Performance Garden.

Canada Day is an annual opportunity to recognize and celebrate the vast history, great present, and exciting future to come of our country.
