The Canadian Cowboys Association (CCA) rode into the southwest last week to rustle up some rowdy competition.
The Kinetic Exhibition Park's Magnus Arena hosted the Plewis Automotive Group CCA Rodeo as a part of the 87th annual Frontier Days on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
A pair of locals took first place in their respective events;
Stewart Valley's Janet-Lynn Moen secured first place in Laddies Barrel Racing with a time of 16.82 seconds, and
Allee Kapeller from Beechy took first in Junior Girls Barrel Racing with a time of 17.07 seconds.
An additional nine southwest athletes placed;
Davis Young from Leader came in fourth in Bull Riding with a score of 76.5,
Twila Hayes from Val Marie captured seventh in Ladies Barrel Racing at 17.15 seconds,
Consul's Braden Brost, along with Tuftin McLeod from Morse, secured second in Team Roping with a score of six,
Tygh Armstrong from Eastend and his team member from Big River finished sixth in Team Roping with a score of 7,
Waldeck's Tucker Danberg took second place in Junior Steer Riding with a score of 68.5,
Zack Moorhead achieved third in Junior Steer Riding at a score of 67,
Stewart Valley's Astynn Knudsen captured second in Junior Girls Barrel Racing with a time of 17.27 seconds, and
Walker Thomson from Maple Creek took fourth in Novice Saddle Bronc with a score of 68.
