The Swift Current Broncos look to Europe today as the Canadian Hockey League holds their annual import draft.

The draft has been expanded to three rounds this season as teams will now be able to carry three import players on their roster.

The Broncos could also potentially return forward William Morin and defenceman Marek Ročák.

Swift Current is looking to get back to drafting impact players in this draft.

"You're hoping always," said Broncos GM Chad Leslie. "This is such a relationship type of draft. We've had a little bit of success, but not as much as we should. That is on me. It takes time expanding your relationships. I'm hoping we're going to be in a situation where we've got a couple impactful players."

After the departure of most of their top scorers from the 2024-25 team, there could be some attractive openings for European forwards.

"There's lots of opportunity," Leslie said. "Obviously this is an opportunity to grab a forward, but at the end of the day if there's an opportunity for a tremendous player who isn't a forward you have to look at that as well regardless of our situation. We'll make sure we're trying to get best player available."

The Broncos picked Morin and defenceman Adam Král in the 2024 draft.

Swift Current could pick 59th, 122nd and 150th in the draft today.

The Broncos swapped picks with Calgary in the 1st round and Everett in the 2nd round as part of two recent deals.

The CHL Import Draft gets started at 9:00 AM.
