This Saturday, July 5th, the first-ever 500 Stephen Car Show Fundraiser rolls into Morden Plaza(282 Loren Drive), offering locals a fun, family-friendly way to support one of the region’s most vital community centres.
Hosted by the 500 Stephen Community Centre, the car show is more than a display of shiny chrome and roaring engines—it’s a day devoted to celebrating connection, culture, and the vehicles that bring stories to life.“It’s not just about the cars,” said Kevin Driedger, the new Executive Director of 500 Stephen. “It’s about bringing people together, showcasing the unique stories behind these vehicles, and supporting a space that serves the entire region.”
Event details
Date: Saturday, July 5, 2025
Time: 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Location: Morden Plaza (Behind Bruce by the Morden Food Hall & Market) 282 Loren Drive
Vehicle Check-in: 10:00 AM
Registration is free and open to all vehicle types—whether it's a classic Ford, a JDM import, a quirky VW van, or a beloved motorcycle. If it’s special to you, bring it. “If you love your vehicle, we want to see it,” said Sanjay Naha, Marketing & Events Coordinator at 500 Stephen. “It doesn’t matter if it’s new, old, fast, or funky—every vehicle has a story, and every story helps build community.”
Why it matters
500 Stephen is a bustling hub that serves not only Morden but the wider Pembina Valley region. It hosts critical programs such as newcomer welcome nights, parenting groups, mental health counselling, workplace training, and one of its main tenants, the Many Hands Food Bank. “We see hundreds of people every week come through the doors,” said Driedger. “From food pickup days to drop-in sessions, the impact is significant—but so is the cost of keeping the lights on.”
Activities, prizes, and community fun
Alongside the car show, visitors can enjoy food trucks, music, raffle prizes, and more. One major raffle prize up for grabs? A set of brand-new Hankook tires (valued at over $1,500 including installation). “It’s a chance to show off your car, enjoy amazing food, and maybe even go home with new tires,” added Naha. “Plus, it all supports programs that help people right here in our community.”
Volunteers and food trucks needed
Organizers are still looking for volunteers and local food trucks to join the event. If you're interested in helping out or bringing your business to the park, reach out through the contact info below. “Events like this only happen when the community comes together,” said Driedger. “Whether you're bringing a car, volunteering, or just showing up to enjoy the day—your presence matters.”
How to register
Vehicle registration is open now at www.500stephen.ca. There’s no cost to enter, but donations are appreciated to help support the centre’s year-round programming.
Walk-ups on the day of the event are also welcome—just aim to arrive by 10:00 AM to get your vehicle checked in and parked.
