Former Estevan Bruins hockey player Mason Strutt’s court case was adjourned to July 29 during proceedings Wednesday in Moose Jaw Provincial Court.

Strutt did not appear in person. Estevan lawyer Kathryn Gilliss appeared by phone on his behalf.

Strutt is facing one count of sexual assault in Moose Jaw. He is also facing several charges in Regina, including uttering threats, assault, animal cruelty, and causing a person to take a noxious substance.

He was released on conditions in April.

Gilliss told the court she had received new disclosure from the provincial Crown prosecutor’s office. While she had time to review the new evidence, she said she needed more time to go over it with Strutt and receive instructions.

She added that Strutt would provide a written election ahead of the next court date so the case can proceed.

Originally from Estevan, Strutt played two seasons with the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League’s Estevan Bruins in 2019 and 2020. He most recently played senior hockey in the Big Six Hockey League with the Oxbow Huskies in 2022 and the Bienfait Coalers in 2023.
