The Town of Claresholm is reassuring residents that the water in the town remains safe to drink and for daily use.

The town was made aware that some residents may have noticed an earthy taste or odour in the water.

“This is a naturally occurring issue, often due to seasonal conditions in the source of water,” the town said in a Facebook post.

The water in the town is sourced from the Pine Coulee Reservoir, with the water treatment process regulated under Alberta’s Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act and tested daily to meet standards.

Going forward, the town is planning to share information updates on the water treatment process and water quality regulations to mitigate any concerns residents may have.

Anyone with questions regarding the water is encouraged to contact the town office at (403) 625-3381 or the Water Treatment Plant at (403) 625-3100.
