Swift Current's parks are set to take off with activity for the summer.
The Summer Parks Program is going to launch on Monday, July 7, with the first edition in Highland Park beginning at 9 a.m. The day is set up for play-along activities, making some friends, and giving parents a chance to mingle and meet each other.
The program is for kids aged 6-11, and will have Play Leaders on location from 9 a.m. to noon, and again from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. They will be responsible for setting up safe play environments, managing activities, and helping to ensure everyone has fun.
Krista Caswell, community recreation coordinator for the City of Swift Current, recommends that parents attend on Monday to fill out the registration form.
"They can access that from our city website, and then they can drop in whenever they can make time for it in their day," said Kaswell. "It's a great way for kids to stay active and engaged in the summer months while they're away from school."
Additional information can be found on the City website.
Kaswell says that kids can benefit from the play programs by staying active and healthy during the summer, and by engaging in fun with other kids.
"We have amazing leaders who are ready to entertain and get the kids active and having fun," said Kaswell.
