Back by popular demand, the City of Weyburn will welcome Canadian Paranormal Expeditions to Weyburn's Heritage Village on July 19th for the second annual Paranormal Investigation.
Leisure Services Manager for the City of Weyburn, Amanda Wallace, said this year's event will include four time slots.
"The four times are 7 p.m., 9:30 p.m., a Midnight tour [12 a.m.], and a Witching Hour tour [2:30 a.m.]. Last year, we saw quite a demand in some of the earlier times. But post-event we've been hearing from the public that they really are interested and eager to do a Witching Hour tour. The Witching hour technically occurs at 3 a.m., so we're trying to hit that right in the middle, so we are going to kick things off at 2:30 a.m. and by the time instructions and everything are all said and done, you'll be on your way and doing your investigation by 3 a.m. in the hopes to get all of the spookiness that may occur for the Witching hour."
The CPE leaders on hand will be, 'certified ghost hunters', who will provide a half-hour instructional session as well as all of the specialty ghost hunting equipment.
"Some of the programs that the CPE leaders or ghost hunters use do have cell phone capabilities in order to communicate with the spirits. We encourage people to just really be thoroughly engaged in the experience."
"What will happen is you register at the front gate with the staff, and then we will get instructions to the masses, and then we divide it out," she explained. "Post instructions, you'll be grouped. Then in your group, you're assigned a CPE, a Canadian paranormal Expeditions Leader, and then they will take you on a guided-esque tour. You will kind of follow the CPE Ghost Hunter to a designated area, they will do some speaking prompts, and then you will be able to hold and manipulate ghost equipment while you're in throughout the village."
The different toys, Wallace noted, include a cat ball, with some new to this year's tour. She said everyone should bring a photo identification as well as a flashlight.
"We encourage people to come with an open mind because, I mean, if you come with a closed mind, you're not going to get a lot of the experience. But even if you're a non-believer, come with an open mind and you never know what might pop up or what you might experience. I know some individuals last year came through and didn't really think they might get a lot out of it, and lo and behold, they got a lot out of the event."
Wallace added an advisory for attendees to be respectful of the environment and facilities, and to plan to be as sober as possible for the event.
The number of people able to register for each time slot has been reduced to 30 this year, with only 27 spots for the last tour. Given the limited spots, early registration is encouraged.
