The 2025 Weyburn Fair Days got off to a hot start on Thursday, as the opening day drew crowds despite sweltering temperatures.
One of the headline attractions, the Rumble in the Ring demolition derby, delivered the spectators came to see. Kevin Dodd took the win in the first heat, with Les Wendel topping heat two. Decker Mainil was named Best Dressed, while Mack Metheral was awarded for the Hardest Hit. The Tough Luck Award went to Rob Prettie. The final derby showdown saw Tyler Metheral emerge victorious, with Jenna Metheral finishing second and Mack Metheral rounding out the top three.
The action didn’t stop there. Tyler Metheral also claimed the top spot in the lawn mower races, while Ryan Bender won the lawn mower drag races. Bender also picked up first in the 500–799cc division of the Quad Pulls, with Aeron Reinson in second. In the 800–1000cc division, Wade Haberstock came out on top, followed by Mack Metheral.

Fair Days festivities continue on Friday. The Souris River Rodeo Slack took place at 8:00 a.m., and gates opened at 11:00 a.m. Attractions for all ages are set across the fairgrounds, including the midway at noon, Ol’ McDale’s Petting Zoo at 1:00 p.m., and a full slate of interactive displays and exhibits throughout the Sports Arena and Exhibition Hall.
Tonight, the first full performance of the Souris River Rodeo starts at 6:00 p.m., followed by a live performance by Moody Hollow in Swayze’s Saloon.
The fair wraps up Saturday with a full day of events, beginning at 9:00 a.m. with the Souris River DQ Kids Rodeo and concluding with another rodeo performance at 5:00 p.m. and a performance from Kelly Gill and the Hired Guns to close out the weekend.
