The Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency (SPSA) provided an update on the wildfire situation in northern Saskatchewan on Friday.
There are 64 active wildfires in the province as of 11:00 am, Friday July 4, of those active fires, eight are categorized as contained, 20 are not contained, 25 are ongoing assessment and 11 are listed as protecting values.
To date there have been 334 wildfires, which is well above the five-year average of 195 to date.
Four communities remain under evacuation order: Resort Subdivision of Lac La Plonge, La Plonge Reserve, Northern Village of Beauval and Kinoosao.
As of 12:00 pm on Friday, July 4, the evacuation order for the Northern Settlement of Bear Creek was lifted.
Smoke from the wildfires could pass through the Humboldt area beginning in the early hours of Saturday morning. Widespread smoke is forecast throughout Saturday.
