After receiving another request from the Office of the Fire Commissioner, twelve firefighters from several departments in the region left Sunday to assist in ongoing wildfire fighting efforts in Northern Manitoba.
Five members from Winkler Fire Department are joining seven others from Morden, St. Jean, Morris and Altona as part of a Pembina Triangle Mutual aid district task force team headed to Thompson. According to information shared on the department's respective social media pages, the group will be deployed to wildfires in both the Thompson and Lynn Lake areas.
In addition to its firefighters, Winkler contributed a pumper, tanker and command unit to the list of apparatus requested. Altona/Rhineland Emergency Services has contributed its compressed air foam truck.
