At approximately 6:17 p.m. on Sunday, June 29, 2025, a collision occurred on Stoney Trail S.W., just south of the Bow Trail interchange.

Police say a 2001 Toyota 4Runner, driven by a 25-year-old man, was travelling south when it left the roadway, crossed the grass median and entered the northbound lanes. The vehicle rolled and was then struck by a 2008 Dodge Caliber driven by a 25-year-old woman.

The driver of the Toyota was ejected from the vehicle and struck a large overhead directional sign, sustaining fatal injuries.

CPS said in a statement Monday:

“Police are looking to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the collision, specifically the drivers of two light-coloured SUVs and one dark-coloured SUV. It is believed the SUVs witnessed the Toyota 4Runner crossing the median from southbound Stoney Trail S.W. into the northbound lanes of Stoney Trail.”

“Police believe witnesses may have key information that can help advance the investigation.”

Anyone with information or dashcam footage is asked to contact police at 403-266-1234. Anonymous tips can also be submitted to Crime Stoppers.
