The East Central 15U AAA Dodgers enjoyed a successful weekend as they won three of four games in a pair of doubleheaders.
On Saturday, the Dodgers travelled to Yorkton to meet the Cardinals. In the first game, the Cardinals prevailed 9-4. The game was tied 2-2 before Yorkton grabbed the lead, scoring four runs. East Central replied with two runs of their own in the sixth inning, but the Cardinals added three runs for insurance in the bottom of the inning for the win. Six different Dodgers each had a hit in the game.
East Central responded in Game 2 with a dominating 16-2 victory. The Dodgers didn’t waste any time lighting up the scoreboard as they scored 15 runs in the first two innings including ten in the top of the first.
Everitt Solar had a big day at the plate, cranking out a pair of home runs. He ended up with three hits and four RBIs. Kyler Fischer had three hits and three RBIs.
Solar also got the win on the mound, tossing three innings allowing one run on one hit and seven strikeouts.
On Sunday, the Dodgers were on home turf in Humboldt and won both games against the Swift Current 57’s.
The Dodgers started off strong again, scoring nine runs in the first two innings on their way to the win. Solar had another strong game, with three hits, knocking two runs in and scoring four times. Fischer, Sawyer Pollon and Reid Griffith also had multiple hits for the win.
In the final game of the weekend, the Dodgers defeated the 57s again, this time 12-2. East Central had runs in each of their bats, including a seven-run fourth inning. Five different members of the Dodgers had hits. Pollon got the win on the mound, pitching a complete game (5 innings) allowing one earned run on five hits with three strikeouts.
Following the weekend, the Dodgers improved their record to 9-13 on the year. They will be back in action on Tuesday as they meet the Regina Athletics in Watrous and then on Wednesday they face the Saskatoon Expos in Muenster.
