Fillmore & District Emergency Services were at the Weyburn Agricultural Society Fair on the weekend, selling raffle tickets for a 2024 John Deere 1023E Sub-Compact Utility Tractor. The funds raised are going to support the operation of their new building.

Sarah Leguee is a captain for the Fillmore Volunteer Fire Department. She explains that the building will benefit all emergency services in the area.

“We actually share the shop with the RM of Fillmore so there's just a lack of space and every time we want to do training or anything we have to move all trucks out because we don't have anywhere to do it. So, this will make a huge difference for us and as far as Fillmore Volunteer Ambulance goes, they would have ceased to exist without building a new building with living quarters in for the attendance.”

The tractor, donated to the building committee by South Country Equipment, is valued at $34,000 and includes a loader and mower. Tickets are $50 with the draw being made at the grand opening of the facility at the end of the month.

While they were set up at the Weyburn Agricultural Society Fair as part of their final push, it’s not too late to purchase a ticket. Leguee says any member of the organizations in the building can be contacted for tickets.

“We do have a Facebook page, Fillmore Volunteer Fire Department, and the information is on there or call the RM office in Fillmore. Basically anyone on the fire department or Fillmore ambulance or the RM even can sell tickets so we all have access to them.”

The draw and grand opening will be on July 30th at 19 Main Street Fillmore at 4 p.m.
