The return of the Manitoba Stampede and Exhibition to Morris is just over a week away, happening July 18th through 20th. The event is the largest the community hosts annually.
"One of the things I appreciate is not just obviously the patronage for all of our local businesses, but it gives us, as a community, a chance to show off," shared Morris Mayor Scott Crick. "We can show people there's opportunities for residential development. There's opportunities for commercial development. There's opportunities for service businesses. We're a fantastic community. We've got a great location, and it's just such a great opportunity to showcase who we are as a community to all the many visitors who come."
Manitoba's only pro rodeo starts with the Morris Chamber of Commerce Stampede Kick-Off Thursday night (July 17th) at the Exhibition grounds including lots of free events for the entire family starting at 6pm. Those include face painting, bouncy houses, yard games, Paw Patrol mascots, dunk tank and free hot dogs and cotton candy.
"There is a fundraising dinner offered that night from the (Morris) Fire Department from 6:00 to 8:30pm," he added. "If you're interested in coming and having a great steak cooked by local members of your fire department, you can buy tickets from them specifically or individually. You can also get tickets at the Morris Build All and Morris Super Thrifty Drug Store."
Those tickets are $30 per person, and you are encouraged to buy them in advance.
