Greg Luterbach is thankful for his experience at Rocky View Schools (RVS) as Superintendent, with his retirement just around the corner.
Luterbach talked to DiscoverAirdrie about his upcoming retirement, and he explained it as being a blast working for the school division.
"These last nine years. We've had lots of growth, plenty of challenges, but you know, it's been a fantastic team to be part of."
Ryan Reed will officially assume the role of Superintendent of Schools as of August 18, 2025, shared RVS. At that time, Greg Luterbach will move to a transitional support role until his retirement on August 31.
" I have lots of confidence in Ryan Reed moving forward as a new superintendent, and the team will continue to work hard to do their very best for kids and families in the communities that they serve."
When asked about how the transition is going, Luterbach believes it has been great from his perspective. And what we're seeing over the last little bit is this gradual transition, which has been great.
"Ryan and I have been in the same physical office space for the last couple of months now, and just an opportunity for him to be able to ask questions."
Since re-joining RVS in 2016, Superintendent Luterbach has led the division’s growing team of over 3,000 staff, maintaining a steadfast focus on providing the best possible learning experience for RVS students.
When asked about what he is going to miss when it comes to working for RVS, he said it's all about the people.
"There are over 3000 staff members a part of RVS, and we're just a smidge under 30,000 students. It is the people who really do the magic day in and day out. I'm going to miss that."
He also shared that he is very proud to say that he is a part of the RVS team.
"I've had an opportunity, who let me into their lives to be able to work together to do the best things we can for kids. I'll be cheering them on from the sidelines now, rather than from my office."
He plans to stay around in the area but is excited about the upcoming change of pace in his life and do a lot less ironing.
