On Monday (July 7), the Gleichen RCMP received a weapons complaint, leading to the arrest of one individual.  

It was reported that the suspect was waving a knife at people on Main Street in Gleichen.   

The police arrived, they located and arrested a male, who was in possession of a large kitchen knife.    

Teddy Yellowfly, a 35-year-old resident of Siksika Nation, has been charged with the following:  

  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose  

  • Possession of a weapon while knowing its possession was prohibited  

  • Failing to comply with conditions of a probation order  

  • Failing to comply with conditions of a release order  

Yellowfly was held for a Judicial Interim Release hearing and later released on conditions.  

He is scheduled to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Siksika on July 24.
