The SPCA Swift Current's third Annual Adoptathon is coming up in a little over a week, featuring adoptable cats and dogs, a donkey kissing booth from Cypress Advanced First-Aid Services, and more.

The adoptathon is being held in partnership with Dufresne Furniture and Appliances for the third time, taking place in the Dufresne parking lot on Sunday, July 20, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Kash Knight, fundraising manager for the SPCA Swift Current, shared that the exciting event will also include local artists, food vendors, a bouncy castle, and a raffle prize.

"We wanted to make something that was an adoption event but also have some fun activities for families to come out, spend time with each other, and do something different or unique," she said. "Even if you're not in a position to adopt an animal, it's still a great way to come out and support."

A coveted Maytag pet pro washer has been donated by Dufresne for the raffle. Tickets are available in the days leading up to the adoptathon, and the draw will take place at the event.

"It's a really fun day," said Knight. "We're bringing the community together for a great cause and helping animals in need, possibly giving them a second chance at life and love."

Anyone who might be looking to add a furry friend to their family can drop by the event, check out the SPCA Swift Current's website, or stop by the shelter.

"Every pet with us has a unique story, so it's really important to read about their backgrounds, and we try to share as much as we can," she added. "So just really thinking about your lifestyle and what your family needs, then also considering if that pet that you're interested in will be a good fit and match those needs."
