A historic site in Diamond Valley is among a select group of Alberta heritage sites and museums offering free and discounted admission this summer.

The initiative is part of the Canada Strong Pass program, which runs from July 4 to Sept. 2.

During this time, 13 historic sites and museums across Alberta are offering free admission for youth aged 17 and under, as well as for adults aged 18 to 24.

Among them is Diamond Valley’s Turner Valley Gas Plant, a key site in Alberta’s petrochemical history and a filming location for the 2021 movie Ghostbusters: Afterlife.

Others include the Frank Slide Interpretive Centre in Crowsnest Pass, and Head-Smashed-in Buffalo Jump in Fort Macleod.

The Canada Strong Pass also offers free admission to Parks Canada sites, discounts on overnight camping, and free and discounted rail travel.

More information on the Canada Strong Pass can be found on the Government of Canada website.
