The Brandon Regional Health Centre (BRHC) Foundation is continuing their fundraising efforts to support a number of projects, the largest of these being their capital campaign for the Critical Care Centre which is still under construction.

"The Critical Care Centre and the Capital Campaign of Foundation for Care is still on track," shares Foundation Communications and Development Coordinator, Jessica Saler. "The last update we received from the hospital, the build is expected to be completed this fall with patients hopefully using that facility in early 2026!"

"So, it's not that far away, which is very exciting," she adds. "I was very fortunate to be able to go and get a bit of a sneak peek at where progress is so far and I think it's really going to be such a game changer here for patient care. So, we're excited to share more on that as it gets closer."

The BRHC Foundation Gala will take place October 4th this year with all funds going to the Critical Care Centre. Tickets are already available for purchase at the BRHC Foundation website.

In addition to the capital campaign, the Foundation raises money each year for necessary equipment and upgrades to the Brandon hospital.  This spring they started fundraising for two specific projects, the first being a warming unit for blankets in the maternity ward.

"If you're a mother and have ever been in the maternity unit, you know just how nice it is to be able to wrap your newborn in a warm blanket and just how much it makes the experience so much more special. So, we're trying to raise money to get one of those units up there for them."

Saler says the second project is to upgrade the furniture in the family room for the ER unit.

"So, this is something, you know, when there is a trauma that comes into the emergency and the family arrives and they're waiting for news, the family room is a private room that they get taken into where they can just have some privacy and be with one another while they wait for news on their loved one," she explains. "And so, we're wanting to update the furniture in there. It's just gotten outdated and isn't providing maybe the level of comfort that we want it to. So, we're hoping to be able to add new furniture in there just to make it a little bit more comfortable for folks."

With a price tag of just over $16,000 for the blanket warming unit and the ER family room furniture, Saler says they're pretty close to their goal with just a couple more thousand left to go.

"So, for those who are wanting to maybe contribute to this, they can decide if they wanted to support both or if they want their money to go to just the blanket warmer or just the family room furniture in the ER, they can decide. But they can do that either by contacting our office or doing it online as well."

The blanket warming unit comes at a cost of $11,500 and the furniture is budgeted for $5,000.

"And any additional funds raised will go to where it's most needed," adds Saler, "to ensure that those dollars are going to where it matters most."
