A southwest man pleaded guilty to almost half a dozen charges this morning, garnered from several incidents that took place between June 2024 and June 2025.
Michael Douglas Graham appeared in Swift Current Provincial Court on Wednesday morning by video, where he was sentenced on five of the nine charges he faced;
One count of possession of property obtained unlawfully,
One count of driving while suspended, and
Three counts of failure to comply with a release order.
Graham received two 30-day concurrent sentences and two 30-day consecutive sentences for a total of 60 days to be served in custody as of Wednesday, in addition to a $150 fine for the driving-related incident that must be paid by December 31, 2025.
The local resident first received a ticket for driving while suspended on June 18, 2024. In October of the same year, he was released on a conditional sentence order, which included conditions to abide by a curfew and abstain from drugs and alcohol.
Graham broke his curfew in December and was later found in possession of a license belonging to another individual.
Then, on June 26, 2025, law enforcement conducted a check at the residence of the accused. Police suspected him to be under the influence and administered an ASD, as well as locating methamphetamines.
Only two days later, on June 28, RCMP attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle being driven by Graham, whose license was already suspended.
A chase ensued, and police located the individual hiding behind a garbage dumpster. Graham was recorded to have a BAC of 0.1, and officers located cocaine in the vehicle he was driving.
The victim fine & surcharge of more than $500 were waived, and the additional counts, including the initial count of driving while suspended, were stayed.
