A 14-year-old boy has been charged in connection with three separate robberies in Winnipeg after police executed a search warrant at a Langside Street apartment earlier this week.

According to Winnipeg police, the teen was arrested on July 7 following an investigation by the Major Crimes Unit into a series of robberies involving threats of violence.

The first incident happened April 10, when a young adult was walking in the 500 block of Maryland Avenue. Police say the victim was pushed to the ground and threatened with a stabbing unless they handed over their phone. The suspect fled with the device.

On June 16, a man trying to sell his e-scooter through an online marketplace was approached in the 300 block of Young Street. Police say the potential buyer took the scooter for a test ride and never returned. When the seller later located the suspect, he allegedly pulled a knife and threatened the seller before fleeing.

Two days later, a man selling a phone through a similar online platform was approached in the same area. After handing over the phone in exchange for cash, the suspect allegedly brandished an axe and demanded the phone back before fleeing with the device.

No injuries were reported in any of the incidents.

Investigators say evidence and witness statements led them to an apartment in the 400 block of Langside Street. With help from the Tactical Support Team, police executed a search warrant at 8:28 p.m. on July 7. They recovered property and clothing believed to be connected to the crimes, and arrested a suspect matching descriptions from the three robberies.

Police say the teen was also found to be in possession of 4.3 grams of methamphetamine at the time of his arrest.

The 14-year-old has been charged with three counts of robbery, possession of methamphetamine, and breaching the conditions of an undertaking. He remains in custody.
