It's Throwback Thursday - just a minute to remember the good old days.

Remember when we all had maps in our cars? We'd keep them in the glove box and, from time to time, we'd pull over and have a look when we needed them.

Times have changed. Now we have cel phones with services like Siri, Alexa, Google Assistant and Google Maps.

I put two of those into action last week when I was visiting friends in Calgary. Siri got me to my first destination with no problems. She was perfect.

A few days later I was headed to another friend's house. I'd never been there before, but Siri was so good earlier in the week, I asked her for help again. She didn't recognize the address I recited repeatedly so I turned to Google Maps.

I pulled out of the gas station and followed directions for a block or two but then I had Siri AND Google Assistant both offering directions. They were interrupting each other and confusing me. I politely told Siri to shut up but she didn't.

I had to pull into a parking lot and regroup. I disabled Siri and moved forward with the Google Assistant, and she got me where I was going.

It was a little stressful but still better than folding up a map and trying to fit it back into the glove compartment.
