A rash of break and enters has Watrous and Craik RCMP detachments working together, and they are asking for the public’s help.

On the Morning of July 9, 2025, between the hours of 2:00 am and 4:30 am, the town of Imperial was targeted by a series of break and enters. The thieves targeted garages and vehicles that were left unlocked. The RCMP is asking if anyone has surveillance footage in and around the area of Imperial during the hours when the crimes were committed.

On the morning of July 8, suspects also targeted the towns of Liberty and Holdfast in a similar manner.

The RCMP release explains the practice of checking vehicles for unlocked doors has been given a nickname by the criminal element of “car shopping.” Suspects will check a vehicle door and if it is locked, they will move on and keep checking until they find an easier target. In the interest of crime prevention, RCMP recommends ensuring that garages, outbuildings and vehicles are locked at all times.

If you have information or surveillance about the occurrences in Holdfast, please contact the Craik RCMP Detachment (306-734-5200). If you have information or surveillance about the occurrences in Liberty or Imperial, please contact the Watrous RCMP Detachment (306-946-3316).
