The Weyburn Beavers Baseball Club asked fans to pack the park at last night's game against the Saskatoon Berries, and Weyburn answered.
The excitement stemmed from a special guest joining the stands, Sportsnet Central baseball analyst Jamie Campbell took a hiatus from the Toronto Blue Jays to take in some summer college ball action.

This was only the tip of the iceberg for last night’s fan experience. The Weyburn Beavers also welcomed back Ryan Muizelaar to the roster, a two-year Beavers veteran who will play out the rest of the season back here in Weyburn.
There were also deals on food and beverages for fans all night long, and guest vendor Batter Up Bakeshop had an inventory of baked goods available all night.
The City of Weyburn and Prairie Sky Co-Op were in attendance alongside the gameday sponsors, Weyburn Tourism and Weyburn Credit Union. Booths set up by the entrance offered fun activities and information as fans walked in. Facetastic Faces was helping people show off their team spirit, with the Beaver’s and Berries’ logo alongside other baseball themed designs.
The game day 50/50 saw record breaking numbers, with the total pot guaranteed by the Weyburn Young Fellows at $3000, ended up at a whopping $3300.
Weyburn Beavers club president Garnet Hansen called the event a chance to “show Jamie Campbell what Weyburn’s all about”, so, with that community focus, the players sported their City Connect jerseys, and Mayor Jeff Richards threw the first pitch.
While the game itself saw two rain delays, the second causing the action to be postponed to tonight, fans didn’t want to miss a moment as the Beavers came from behind after a five nothing deficit in the first inning. The game paused at a six six tie in the middle of the sixth inning.
The game will resume tonight at 6 p.m., before the regularly scheduled game begins at 7 p.m.
