The Town of Okotoks has launched a community initiative aimed at curbing excessive vehicle noise.

The Sound Pilot is designed to promote education and raise awareness surrounding noise bylaws within the town, and to reduce disruptive vehicle noise.

The pilot includes sound monitoring to ensure vehicles adhere to the decibel levels in the town’s traffic bylaw, and a sign that has been placed on Milligan and 32nd Street.

“This pilot promotes community understanding of and adherence to the noise bylaw, supporting a respectful and peaceful environment for all residents,” said Okotoks Town Councillor Rachel Swendseid in a Facebook post.

Residents are encouraged to report noisy vehicles using the Municipal Enforcement Complaint Line at 403-938-8913.

Reporting noisy vehicles will ensure Municipal Enforcement can collect data on where and when the issues are occurring.
