A massive come-from-behind effort for the Weyburn Beavers was paused last night, as a rain delay suspended the game against the Saskatoon Berries halfway through the sixth inning.

A leadoff home run put the Berries on the board right from the first inning, followed by four more scores earned including another home run.

Down five nothing in the bottom of the first, the Beavers were quick to get on the board with an unearned run in the fourth at bat, and an earned run after Noah Brooks hit a single to the centre field.

Weyburn pitcher Owen McConnell kept the Berries at bay in the top of the second allowing no runs, following it up with a strong offence earning two more runs in the bottom with Robert Gurney hitting a home run, sending himself and Tyren Dorrance across the plate.

With the Beavers climbing the scoreboard at 4 - 6, Saskatoon saw an increase to their lead with a wild pitch sending Nathan Houston home.

The game plateaued with no runs earned until the bottom of the fifth. A wild pitch advanced Brooks and Ryan Dauphinee, who were sent home by a double to centre field hit by Zach Tanabe.

With a 6 - 6 tied score, a rain delay caused the game to be postponed with the action resuming tonight at 6 p.m., before the teams play their regularly scheduled game.
