The Carman Country Fair last weekend offered something for everyone, with a talent show, the Wondershows Midway, and dirt bike barrel racing all only taking up a fraction of what the fair had to offer.

Organized by the Dufferin Agricultural Society, the fair runs on the Ag Society’s board and volunteers to make the weekend happen. Nancy Armstrong volunteered with the Exhibition Hall, a longstanding staple of the fair. “I’m here for three hours... greeting people” shared Armstrong. The exhibition hall showcased work from children and adults alike, from all over Manitoba. “It’s amazing...with the junior baking and arts and stuff” Armstrong shared. “These kids are fantastic.”

The exhibition was handing out the prize money awarded to participants, an effort which Armstrong enjoys: “You should see the smiles on their faces. It makes it all worthwhile.”

Dufferin Ag Society President Elaine Owen shared how the fair has been staying true with its family-oriented roots but also branching out into unique entertainment. “I’m looking forward to the dirt bike barrel racing” shared Owen. “I think that’ll be fun, watching six- and seven-year-olds ripping around on their 50CC bikes. We’ve never done that before.”
