Sometimes the most powerful ideas don’t come from a boardroom — they come from the back pasture. This August, the Southeast TechHub is launching a hands-on initiative with SaskBeef that puts innovation boots-on-the-ground. The concept is simple but impactful: bring innovators out to a working ranch, let them see real-world challenges up close, and help them build solutions that actually fit the industry’s needs.

“There’s a disconnect when you’re building tech in a lab without ever seeing the job site,” said Gordon More, Executive Director of the Southeast TechHub. “This is about closing that gap.”

The initiative focuses on supporting cattle producers — an industry that, unlike grain and pulse, hasn’t seen the same surge in tailored tech solutions. With limited spots and a direct connection to funders later this year, the project could spark major change not just for the beef sector, but for rural innovation in Saskatchewan.

Gordon More, Executive Director of the Southeast TechHub, joined the SUN 102 Morning Show to share the details.
