Summer and music are a classic pairing.

Winkler’s Concerts in the Park series is one perfect opportunity to take in both. The weekly series will return on July 16th with a genre that can delight the soul as much as the ear — praise and worship.

The music will be courtesy of Winkler-based King’s Worship at Bethel Heritage Park.

No stranger to performance

At the centre of the group is Shawn Enns, who, in addition to having his own music inspired by his childhood singing country favourites in a tractor, performs with King’s Worship all around the region.

“We hold worship nights here in Winkler, and we do a little bit of travelling around to different places to play for some churches and some organizations such as Teen Challenge.”

Enns said that while the primary reason the group seized the opportunity to perform in Winkler is to share the message of Jesus, the performance is also a part of King’s Worship’s efforts to get out into the community now that it has begun recording its music.

“We'd like to get our music out there and in the public so people can experience it,” he said.

The concert on July 16th begins at 7 p.m. At 6 p.m., there will be cornhole to play and a food truck available for dinner.
