There’s another fun program offering from Prairie Sky Trails Association, and this one is for the 55 plus age group.
Prairie Sky Trails Association offers its first ever 55+ Summer Camp. The idea is to provide fun and engaging activities for people in the age group. The camp runs from August 6 for four consecutive weeks, one day a week.
“On August 6, we’ll be doing a flower craft bouquet in the morning at Prairie Sky Collective,” explains Whitney Shussel, director for Prairie Sky Trails programming. “On August 15, we have Reel Attractions booked for a matinee, with the movie to be determined.”
The month-long event continues August 20 with a workshop to help participants create hand stamped tea towels. The camp culminates with an actual camping adventure down at the Humboldt Campground on Highway 5.
“We will have a bonfire, lawn games, a hot dog and marshmallow roast – all those fun things.”
Shussel says the activities are free, but the month-long camp requires pre-registration so they know how many people are coming.
“The idea behind the camp is to give the 55 plus population in our community something fun to do and remember those good old camp days – to get out and do something fun, and forget about all your responsibilities. In general, it’s just to have fun.”
There’s a potential for participants to meet new people and widen their own communities.
Sponsors for the event include the Good Neighbour Store, Sask Lotteries, SaskEnergy, Sask Parks and Recreation Assn., Sask Water, and Prairie Central District for Sports, Youth and Culture.
