Estevan Fire and Rescue crews were kept busy last week responding to several calls across the city and surrounding areas, including electrical hazards, small fires, and false alarms triggered by faulty detectors and environmental factors.

On July 9, crews were called to an electrical hazard in the north part of the city. They secured the scene until SaskPower arrived. Once power was disconnected, the fire had self-extinguished, and crews returned to the station.

The following day, crews were dispatched to fire alarms ringing north of Estevan at a residential property. Before leaving the station, they were advised by the homeowner that it was a false alarm.

On July 11, crews responded to a tractor fire on the Highway 39 bypass. Once on scene, a small fire was extinguished. No injuries were reported. Crews remained on site for about 20 minutes before returning to the station.

On July 13, crews responded to a commercial fire alarm west of the city in the RM of Estevan. The call was determined to be a false alarm caused by a faulty detection device. Later that day, crews were dispatched to a carbon monoxide alarm in central Estevan. The alarm was triggered by a leak in the roof overhead, which was dripping onto the detection device. No emergency was found.
