It’s a show and shine so big that it spans two communities, and it’s back this year bigger and better than ever.

The Watrous Fun Run is a show that’s sure to delight car enthusiasts, but there is something for everyone young and old. The show goes on July 26 on Main Street in Watrous with the traditional Fun Run down to nearby Manitou Beach happening around 3 pm.

“We have a ton of stuff going on this year,” says Run Chair Jaycee Waage. “That includes a couple of new things we haven’t seen in years past.”

One of those novel additions is live music performed throughout the day at the Watrous Heritage Centre parking lot, with Burk Jodoin performing both Saturday and Sunday. There will also be plenty for the kids to do with downtown bouncy castles, and the Saskatoon Agility Association will have its dogs out and active throughout the day. Beeper the Clown will be out and about entertaining.

The day starts with a pancake breakfast, and burgers and hot dogs will be on the grill throughout the day.

Of course, the highlight will be the 300 plus cars lining the Main Street of Watrous.

“We’re starting from the second block of Main Street, going pretty much all the way down. This year’s show will be on the new and finally finished Main Street.” The street sports newly finished surfaced, renewed sidewalk areas, and decorative lighting making for an attractive main strip.

“We’re starting to see a lot more imports,” says Waage when it comes to the different types of entries. “We’ve got a few new awards cued up.”

There’s are modified, stock, and novelty vehicles in the mix along with trucks, motorcycles, tractors, and virtually every other type of mechanized mover.

For those who want to enter the show and run, pre-registration is recommended. There’s an advance entry draw, and this year, there are electronic pay options for registration. Head to watrousfunrun.com for details and payment options.

“All types of vehicles are welcome,” Waage reminds exhibitors, “Even if you don’t think it’s show worthy, bring it down – everybody loves a project.”

The committee and volunteers welcome all comers to Watrous and Manitou Beach for this year’s Fun Run on July 26.
