The Hamlet of Granum is no longer under a boil water advisory.

The advisory was issued following a power outage on July 13 and was lifted Wednesday afternoon.

In compliance with Alberta Environment and Protected Areas regulations, two sets of water samples were required on consecutive days before the advisory could be lifted.

The water has been tested and has been deemed safe for consumption.

Boiling is no longer a requirement for residents of Granum.

After the advisory was lifted, the Government of Alberta website encourages affected residents to take the following precautions:

  • Turn on all taps and flush the water lines for at least five minutes (or 10 minutes if you live in an apartment building).

  • Read and follow the manufacturer’s instructions for flushing, cleaning, and sanitizing containers that store drinking water, water filters, and ice and water dispensers.

  • Drain and refill hot-water tanks that are set below 45ºC, or if power or gas to the tank was lost for an extended period of time.

  • Run water softeners through a regeneration cycle, following instructions from the manufacturer.
