A man from Traverse Bay is now facing a second-degree murder charge after a deadly shooting in Teulon over the weekend.
RCMP say 24-year-old Donavin Skogan was arrested again on Wednesday, July 16th, and charged with second-degree murder, along with Intimidation of a Justice System Participant. He’s being held in custody and is expected to appear in court later today.
It follows a tragic scene on the night of July 13th, when officers were called to a home on 7th Ave. SE just before 11 p.m. A 37-year-old man was found seriously hurt and rushed to the hospital, where he later died. His name has not been released.
Shortly after officers arrived, another patrol spotted a vehicle that was believed to be connected to the shooting. When the driver didn’t stop, officers followed until the car veered into a nearby cornfield.
With help from the RCMP’s Emergency Response Team, police arrested Skogan and also found a firearm nearby.
He was first charged the following day with several gun and driving-related offences, but now those charges have expanded to include second-degree murder.
Although the investigation is ongoing, police say they are not seeking any additional suspects at this time.
