Recent rain prompts river safety reminder in Okotoks

The Town of Okotoks is reminding residents to be cautious around the Sheep River this weekend, following the recent heavy rain.

According to the Town, increased rainfall has led to higher water levels and faster currents in some areas.

Riverbanks may also be softer and more unstable than usual, and debris could be floating in the water, posing additional hazards.

Residents are encouraged to keep a safe distance from the river’s edge and to closely supervise children and pets near the water.
