It's been three years to the day that Okotoks ultramarathoner Dave Proctor completed his run across Canada in 67 days.

He crossed into Victoria, British Columbia, on July 21, 2022, after running more than 100 km per day.

"It was a 105 km on average over the 67 days across the country. It was a heck of a long run and a really, really long yellow line."

Proctor references the yellow dividing line of the Trans-Canada Highway and also the title of the 90-minute documentary made about his epic journey.

'Chasing the Long, Yellow Line' is the name of the documentary

Vera Neverkevich made the documentary throughout his journey, capturing not just the beauty of the country but the highs and lows both emotionally and physically that Proctor battled through.

Proctor was really happy that Neverkevich pushed to be honest and show everything. "She decided to just make it really, really vulnerable and gritty and honest. Which is perfect because that's exactly, kind of who I am. I wrote a book about this as well too called Untethered. I wrote it in the same fashion because I wanted to be honest with just how hard and ugly it gets at times."

The scenery that's captured and showcased really blew Proctor away, who said the drone shots that she mixed in while he crossed the country are spectacular. She also captured all the highs and excitement as it built as the journey progressed.

One of Proctor's idols is Terry Fox. One of the most inspirational Canadians of all time and Proctor said he would think of him often along the journey, especially when he passed Thunder Bay and when he finally got to Victoria.

Proctor also suffered a bad fall and a concussion along his run, and he found he had to battle through concussion symptoms like mood swings.

One of his saving graces was his abilities as a 25-year massage therapist, as he was able to self-treat.

The documentary covers it all, which you can stream through Vimeo for $4.99.

Now that he's completed his biggest goal, he has found himself at a bit of a loss for 'what's next?'.

"There are a number of things outside of running that I would like to do, and I'm just so grateful a filmmaker like Vera has been able to capture this journey. Maybe in the future, if I'm lucky enough to have great-grandkids and I'm no longer able to walk up the stairs, I could sit down with my great-grandkids and say, 'Hey guys, do you want to see something?"
