Winkler Day Care Centre is celebrating their 50th year of being a part of the community, the same community who came together on Friday, July 18 to celebrate this milestone with the day care.
Open to the community, the event served as an opportunity for everyone and anyone who has been to, or been involved with, the day care. Director Ang Nickel shared that the community has always been integral to the day care’s success: “We want to thank Winkler for being such a welcoming community for us” Nickel shared. “Winkler people are awesome.”

Present at the event was Anne Klassen, one of the first board members of the day care. The work she put in at the centre 50 years ago is felt not only by the community, but also by her family: her great grandchildren are currently in the day care.

Kyla Peters has had three of her kids go through the Winkler Day Care in the past six years, and has seen the importance of both the centre and events like these firsthand: “I’ve been on the board for a couple of years here...[I’ve] just enjoyed all the events they’ve put on over the years.”
